T.J. Maxx closures in 2026: what we know
Three T.J. Maxx stores have closed or been reported closing in 2026. That is not a closure program. Two stores have closed, in Boston, MA (January) and Silver Spring, MD. A third, in LaVale, MD, has been reported with no closing date. Other stores that show up on online closure lists are relocations, or are unconfirmed. A company spokesperson has described the closures as routine real estate adjustments, and the chain is still opening stores.

Why it's not a wave
The recent lists of T.J. Maxx closures grew out of national coverage of a few closings, not a company announcement. A company spokesperson has described the closures as routine real estate adjustments. T.J. Maxx operates more than 1,300 stores in the U.S. Three closures are a small share of that, and new stores are still opening, including the Seneca Square location above.
We check for new T.J. Maxx closings every week, and we'll update this page when one is announced or a notice is filed.
