O'Charley's closures: 33 confirmed by local reporting, out of a reported 44 to 49

O'Charley's shut its company-owned restaurants on Wednesday, September 9, 2026. How many is not settled: the chain's own location list at the shutdown carried 44 addresses, Nation's Restaurant News counted 47 restaurants in all, and Restaurant Dive put the company-owned closures at 49. We hold a record for every address on the chain's list and for the reported franchised units. This page lists the 33 restaurants whose closing a local outlet reported by name; the rest are described below it, not counted.

Tennessee carried the most confirmed closings at 12, then Ohio with 7 and Kentucky with 6. The Tennessean confirmed the September 9 closings with employees at several Tennessee restaurants, and WSMV reported doors locked by Wednesday evening. The Post and Courier's line: "After 55 years, O'Charley's Restaurant + Bar has suddenly shut down all corporate locations, closing every remaining restaurant as of Sept. 9."

On the chain's list, not separately reported. Nine addresses appear on the chain's location list at the shutdown and in the chain-wide reports, but no local outlet has named them as closed: Panama City, Florida (East 23rd Street); Canton, Georgia (Riverstone Parkway); Elizabethtown, Kentucky (North Dixie Hwy); Paducah, Kentucky (Hinkleville Rd); Hickory, North Carolina (US Hwy 70 SE); Alcoa, Tennessee (Fountain View Circle); Knoxville, Tennessee (South Mall Road); Christiansburg, Virginia (Laurel Street); Barboursville, West Virginia (Champion Drive). They are held as announced, without a closing date, until a report names them.

Franchised restaurants. Franchisees operate a handful of O'Charley's outside the company's control. Covelli Enterprises' locations page lists three: Erie, Pennsylvania closed in July, before the wave; Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio closed with it (WKBN); and Niles, Ohio on Mines Road stays open through September 27. A fourth, on Bermuda Cross Roads in Chester, Virginia, had no closing date when an employee spoke to Nation's Restaurant News on September 9. Two Richmond-area addresses that appeared in a national roundup are not on the chain's list and are held as unverified.
