Cato Store Closures 2026: Which Stores Are Closing
Cato announced about 120 closures (fiscal 2026, per the company's SEC filing).
Cato listed about 850 store pages on its own site in October 2026, and its It's Fashion and Versona sites listed about 125 and 75 more. We check those lists weekly. When a store page is missing from two consecutive checks we test the page directly, and we drop the candidate if it is still serving a live store listing. Most records in the file come from news reports, WARN notices and court filings, not from this check.
The Cato Corporation had 1,057 stores in 31 states as of August 1, 2026, across its Cato, Versona and It's Fashion concepts, according to its SEC filing.
As of October 24, 2026, none of the sources we track names a Cato store that is closing, and no Cato store has come off its own store list since we started checking it on October 10, 2026; the It's Fashion and Versona store lists are checked weekly from October 27, 2026. A store is added to this page once a news report, WARN notice, court filing or our check of the store lists names the store's location. Source: Four Lights Analytics Store Closure Watch.
